Video: How to configure Delphi 2010 to look, work, and feel like Delphi 7

Categories:DelphiTags: ,

During my Delphi 2010 IDE videos I presented the return of Delphi 7 Component Toolbar. I received some questions about how to change the IDE layout to work like Delphi 7, below a Delphi 2010 screen shot reproducing the same Delphi 7 layout.

Delphi 2010 look and feel like Delphi 7

You get not only the same layout, but some of the other new features like:

  • Search box for the component toolbar
  • Look at the structure panel window, you will see the Project Manager, Modeling and Data Explorer

Also, hundreds of new features since Delphi 7.

Here a video explaining how to configure your Delphi 2010 to look, work, and feel like Delphi 7

Background Compilation in Delphi 2010 and C++Builder 2010

Categories:C++Builder, DelphiTags: ,

Both Delphi and C++ compilers now allow you to perform background compilation — that is, you can start a compile running as a separate and parallel thread and continue working in the IDE while the compiler compiles your project.

You can continue to work in the IDE while a background compilation runs. For example, you can edit files, even the files you are compiling, and you can set and modify breakpoints.

Below a screen shot, as you can see the compiler dialog transparent during the compiler process.

Video: The old Component Toolbar is back and better in RAD Studio 2010

Categories:C++Builder, DelphiTags: , ,

We hear a lot of developers like the old Component Toolbar from Delphi 7/C++Builder 6, and consider that one of reason not to move to the new release. In RAD Studio 2010 you can now use the old Component Toolbar and/or the new Tool Palette.

To activate the Component Toolbar just right click on the main toolbar and select Component. After that you can right click on the Component Toolbar to see the list of all categories available or just navigate through the tabs and chose one.

The configuration of the Tool Pallete and Component Toolbar are independent, for example you can reorder the categories, and the most cool feature is the search box for the components on the Component Toolbar.

Also, you have a new way to find components through the IDE Insight.

More to come, stay tuned.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Review

Categories:MoviesTags:

WolverineToday I watched “X-Men – Origins: Wolverine” which by the way is a very good movie, not the best of the X-Men series, but you should go.This movie seems to be missing something, but you will you see the background on how Wolverine is a mutant, that becomes a military experiment.

The directors wrote the story very well, also brings a lot of action and drama, may not have had the best effects or visual presentation, but the story is what it was all about.

The final battle between Sabertooth vs Wolverine & Weapon XI / Deadpool is one of the movie’s strengths, is clear that the next movie will come.

South Lake Tahoe a wonderful place

Categories:TravelTags:

South Lake Tahoe is a city in El Dorado County, California, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, last month I was there, if you would like to know a place for sky, cold, and beautiful views, go there.

Behind me in this picture, you can see the Lake, if you have time get you car and visit the east side of the Lake, prepare to stop some times and take many pictures.

Visit the Scenic Gondola Rides

Located one-half block west of California & Nevada Stateline, the Lake Tahoe Gondola is steps from most major lodging facilities, and puts the serenity of an alpine mountain within minutes of six casinos and nearly 5,000 hotel rooms. The eight-passenger cabins take guests 2.4 miles up the mountain in 12 minutes while they enjoy views of Lake Tahoe.

Just when it seems the ride can’t get any better, guests arrive at The Deck – a 14,000 square foot mid-station observation platform. Located at 9,123 feet, guests are treated to views of the Carson Valley, Desolation Wilderness and shore-to-shore views of Lake Tahoe.

Why I chose WordPress as Blog Tool

Categories:GeneralTags:

After I decided to start with my personal blog, I started to think about what tool blog I will use, looking at google you can see a lot of blog software.

In my mind one doubt between Movable Type and WordPress, many reviews in internet about both tools, its help me a lot, at the end 3 points made my decision.

  • Superior number of plugins/themes for WordPress
  • Many Movable Type complaints about ant-spam filter
  • 5 minutes to install WordPress, this is true

Last year in CodeGear we migrate to WordPress, during this time I had a great experience with WordPress.

The WordPress web site has the complete information about how to install, config and management your blog.
